The Roldan Is Here to Stay

Demand for The Roldan, our special pizza to celebrate the soccer madness that consumed our city in June and July, exceeded all of our expectations. It’s earned a spot on our year-round menu.

The pizza is named for Cristian Roldan, one of the most beloved players in Sounders history, and a pizza enthusiast. When Matt and Michelle Galvin, Pagliacci co-owners and Sounders superfans, brought a test run of the pizzas to the Sounders training facility in Renton, Cristian took the first slice, and then he gathered up a stack of boxes filled with his namesake pizza and carried them over to the rest of the team. It drew accolades all around, from players to coaches to owner.

“We planned a six-week run. Demand ran hot,” Matt says. “Making it permanent was an easy call. And the giveback keeps going with it. That’s the best part.”

The Roldan: Fueling the Dream

Soppressata, pineapple, sliced jalapeños, mozzarella, seasoned tomato sauce, hot honey.

The pineapple caramelizes in the oven and picks up a deeper, almost tangy sweetness. Paired with soppressata — salty, garlicky, and meaty — it becomes a bright counterpunch. Add the heat of sliced jalapeños, mozzarella for that creamy savoriness, and a drizzle of hot honey, and you’ve got a born winner.

The Giveback Continues

A portion of sales from every whole Roldan pizza will be donated to the RAVE Foundation. RAVE, the official charity of the Seattle Sounders and Seattle Reign, has been building free public mini-pitches in underserved communities across Washington since 2019, and this year reached its goal of 52. A field without a ball is just a lawn, so RAVE’s One Ball Program puts a soccer ball, free and theirs to keep, at the feet of every kid who lives near a pitch.

Our summer campaign raised enough for over 650 of those balls. We look forward to continuing our partnership and continuing to fuel the dream.

Turning a kid into a soccer player takes just two things, a place to play and a ball, and every whole Roldan helps with both. But it’s about a lot more than dreams of stardom. As our partners at RAVE put it, “Every field is a promise to use soccer to nurture belonging, inspire learning, and bring joy for years to come.”
